Our Staff

Gena Amato, Practice Manager Dr. Amato's wife of over 24 years, Gena, also serves as Practice Manager for Amato Dentistry by Design^™. Gena has an extensive accounting background and as Practice Manager, she brings both her experience and expertise to Dr. Amato's office in areas such as accounting, practice management, staff training and development, as well as marketing and advertising. Gena has a wide range of interests outside of the practice, and enjoys spending time with Dr. Amato and their children, hiking, canoeing, swimming, skiing, time spent at the beach and traveling to fun and unique locations with the entire family. Dr. Amato and Gena are focused on the children's school and extracurricular activities. The entire family are active members of their church.
Rachel, Registered Dental Hygienist Rachel began her 21-year dental career in 1987 in Fort Worth, Texas and joined Dr. Amato's team in September of 2005. She received her Associates Degree in Applied Science (A.A.S.) with a degree in Dental Hygiene at Tarrant County Junior College. Rachel has wide-ranging experience in all aspects of being a dental hygienist, but her particular area of expertise is in non-surgical periodontal treatment. She stays up-to-date with the latest research in periodontal treatment by taking continuing education courses in periodontal treatment. She is an asset to Dr. Amato's practice. Rachel is married to her husband Michael, and together they have two beautiful daughters, Chelsea, age 21, and Darcey, age 19, as well as a son, Luke, age 11. They are also proud grandparents of Nathan, age 3. As a family, they enjoy hiking and travel and are active in their church.
Amanda, Certified Dental Assistant Amanda joined Dr. Amato's team in January of 2006, the same year she began her dental career in Ashe County, North Carolina. Amanda graduated from the Dental Assistant Program at Wilkes Community College, where she attended school for two years in 2004 and 2005. Amanda is a critical member of Dr. Amato‘s team and has expertise in a wide range of advanced cosmetic dentistry, including special training in Lumineers^®. Amanda stays current with the latest research in cosmetic dentistry by taking continuing education courses. We are delighted to have Amanda in our practice. Amanda has been married for nearly nine years and she and her husband have been blessed with two beautiful children, a girl and a boy. Amanda enjoys church activities and family time, as well as cooking and baking.
Crystal, Dental Assistant Crystal joined Dr. Amato's team in May of 2007, the same year she began her dental career in Jefferson, North Carolina. Crystal enjoys learning all aspects of being a dental assistant and loves meeting new people, which makes her an asset to our practice. Crystal is married and the couple have two beautiful children, a girl and a boy. Crystal enjoys reading and gardening, as well as spending time with family and friends.
Wilma, Financial Coordinator Wilma began her 19-year dental career in 1989 in Boone, North Carolina and joined Dr. Amato's team in May of 2005. Wilma has held a wide range of positions in a dental office during her career and enjoys helping patients with their dental needs. She is an asset to Dr. Amato's team in her role as Financial Coordinator and stays current with all aspects of dental training by taking continuing education courses. Wilma is married to her husband Alan and has a son Kyle, a junior at Ashe County High School. The family also has two pets, a dog named Daisy, and a cat named Tink. Wilma enjoys doing volunteer work and managing a consignment shop as a local ministry. She loves being part of her son's school life by helping out with the marching band at Ashe County High School.
Lisa, Administrative & Scheduling Coordinator Lisa joined Dr. Amato's team in July of 2006, the same year she began her dental career in Jefferson, North Carolina. Lisa is a true people person and loves meeting and working with people--a real asset to Dr. Amato's practice in her role as Administrative & Scheduling Coordinator. Lisa's previous experience has been in customer service, banking, scheduling and billing. Lisa has been married to her husband for over 20 years and the couple has two beautiful teenage daughters. The family also has a 10 year-old dog named Jack. Lisa enjoys horseback riding, fishing and spending time with her family.
Erica, Part-Time Registered Dental Hygienist Erica began her dental career by joining Dr. Amato's team in November of 2008. Erica graduated in May 2008 with an Associate in Applied Science degree from the Registered Dental Hygienist Program at Forsyth Tech Community College, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, where she attended school for over two years. As the newest member of Dr. Amato's team, Erica helps take care of all the dental hygiene patients and is truly helping to make an impact in the health of our patients. We are delighted to have Erica in our practice. Erica is originally from Mount Airy, North Carolina, and is a newlywed. She married her husband Zack, currently a student at Appalachian State University (ASU), in August of 2008. Zack will graduate from ASU in 2009. Erica enjoys reading and scrapbooking. She and her husband also enjoy hiking together.
